We’re back with another blog to highlight project ideas for our most beloved fabrics. We hope it gets you buzzing with creativity and inspiration💡 —because that’s the best feeling.
For the last two months, the spotlight has been on our Ditsy Yellow Stretch Organic Cotton Jersey. Super cute and versatile, this fabric has 8% spandex for a near-perfect recovery – an ideal fit for most knit sewing patterns. With a weight of 6.3 oz/sq yard, it is also heavier than standard basic jerseys and therefore nearly opaque. On top of that, cotton knits are not slippery, and therefore much easier to sew and handle than knits of the rayon family which includes viscose, bamboo, modal, and lyocell.
All in all, this is an elevated, all-purpose, basic jersey that can be used for almost all knit projects. From loose-fitting T-shirts and skirts to close-fitting tanks and dresses, this fabric does it all and looks good doing it 😉. Made in the US with organic cotton, it boasts sustainability creds on top of its pretty looks and comfy feel. If you have fallen for this fabric in your sewing projects, look for us to offer a wide selection of solids and prints in this exact fabrication in the coming season ✨.
Sommar Set
Sanna, designer and owner of Paradise Patterns, blew us away with a full outfit featuring her Sommar Cami (of course!) and a matching high-waisted cropped flare bottom.
Sommar Camisole is the top for this Spring and Summer — it seems like hardly a day goes by on Instagram without someone sharing their 5th make of this pattern 😝! Our knit is a perfect match for Sommar, especially if it’s your first try – it’s not too light or too heavy in weight, and the cotton is easy to sew. Did we mention the pattern comes with a built-in bra?

T-shirts
An obvious garment choice for knits, T-shirts are the basics of any wardrobe. Here are three cozy styles to wear on repeat.
Dolman Tee
Jacquelyn made a self-drafted relaxed Tee, an everyday top that fits perfectly into her set-building separates. We love the dropped sleeves and the easy look of this garment.
Henley Long-sleeve
- Pattern: Frankie Tee by Tilly and the Buttons (book only)
- Pattern Mods: V-neckline, henley hack
- IG: @andrea_djones
Queen of Henley, Andrea turned the Frankie Tee into a V-neck henley. We love how the buttons and placket add that tad of specialness to a basic Tee. Check out her IG for more photos of this look.
Darted Tee
- Pattern: Disco Tees by Open Studio Patterns
- Pattern Mods: None
- IG: @linendreams_
Mackenzie whipped up the Disco Tee, a simple Tee with shoulder darts for a bit of design detail. It’s a fun and easy-to-wear top that pairs perfectly with jeans.
Knit Dresses
Tanks, tees, and bottoms. We’re just missing dresses, and these definitely don’t disappoint! Check out these three very different takes on knit dresses, all made by our talented community.
Lace-up Bodycon
- Pattern: Thalia Dress (to be released)
- IG: @thalias__threads
Thalia’s launching a pattern soon, and we get an early sneak peek! Featuring a gorgeous lace-up back, this tank dress hugs the curves of your body for a Summery, stylish look. The natural, speckled rich cream color of cotton makes the fabric nearly opaque – great for dresses!
Cardigan Dress
- Pattern: M8194 by McCall
- Pattern Mod: Size 22, blended to 24 at hip
- IG: @theladywholunches
Jenna’s modern fitted V-neck cardigan dress feels extra special with those chunky buttons (from her great grandmother’s sewing stash 😯). With its long sleeves and elegant midi length, this is a super transitional piece that will take you easily through all of Fall.
Gathered Tank Dress
- Top: Sommar Camisole by Paradise Patterns.
- Pattern Mods: Added gathered skirt (1.7x gather)
- IG: @lyricalfabrics
Tina made a Summery tank dress using Sommar Camisole as the top with an added gathered skirt. An uncomplicated classic silhouette that’s easy to move around in, this tank dress pairs perfectly with a jean jacket.
